"Y'a une étoile": A winning formula featuring Angèle Arsenault songs, laughs and delicious snack!

MONT-CARMEL - July 31, 2023 - Productions Cuisine à Mémé is looking forward to presenting its tribute to internationally renowned singer-songwriter Angèle Arsenault, during the café-theatre "Y'a une étoile", from Aug. 8-12 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

This fantastic show will feature the late Angèle's niece, professional singer Jeanette Arsenault, accompanied on piano by Tanya Bernard and on bass and violin by Gilbert Arsenault.

"One of the remarkable things about Angèle's shows was that she didn't need a big orchestra to convey her words and music to her audience. A simple trio was enough. And to reproduce this style of scenario, we chose Tanya and Gilbert, two of the best musicians the Island’s Acadian community has to offer," points out Paul D. Gallant, the show's artistic director.

But be warned, this café-theatre is not just a concert of Angèle's music. It's much more than that, as we take advantage of the magic of theater to tell the story of this remarkable woman. It all begins in the studios of CIPE, the fictitious radio station for Acadians and francophones on the Island, with a special broadcast of “Live with Phil”, a tribute to Angèle, the host's favorite artist. Although Phil, played by Paul D. Gallant, has been preparing his show for months, his plans are turned upside down with the unexpected arrival of intern Marie-Thérèse. To say she's clumsy in a radio studio would be an understatement.

But the show goes relatively smoothly with Marie-Thérèse, despite the most humorous little boo-boos, not only with Phil but also with those who call in with special requests.

The role of Marie-Thérèse will be played by Katie Marchbank from Summerside, who played Jeannette in the café-theatre "La Wake à Gélas" this summer. Her classmate Xavier Gallant, who happens to be Paul's grandson, will play a variety of characters calling in to the radio.

All this will be accompanied by a wonderful snack, which many of the spectators at La Wake à Gélas described as follows: "It's like when we used to go to our grandparents' house and they'd make us lunch."
