The artists taking the stage during the closing concert of the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series on August 27!

After a summer full of amazing musical performances, the 16th edition of the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series will end on Sunday, August 27 at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall.

The artists who will take the stage on Sunday, August 27, are Québec Roots music group Jabbour, Nova Scotia Folk music group The Bombadils as well as a traditional music group formed by Mélissa Gallant, Megan Bergeron and Rémi Arsenault.

The Roots music performed by Jabbour is linked to the different regions in the province of Québec where each band member resides – from the Laurentians to Montérégie. Their original compositions include two-steps, waltzes as well as acoustic pieces.  Together, they have been performing on the Canadian Folk music scene since 2015.

Making their home in the foggy port city of Halifax, Canada, The Bombadils are folk darlings Sarah Frank and Luke Fraser plus guests from their extended musical family. They offer intimate lyrics with string-band arrangements and tinges of bluegrass. It's been called, "folk tunes done with musical adventure and sophistication" and "an enchanting folk romp."

Originally from the Évangéline region in Prince Edward Island where Acadian, Irish and Scottish music can be heard practically everywhere, Mélissa now resides in Cocagne, New Brunswick.  It’s at the age of 2 that she started to stepdance and, ten years later, she started playing the fiddle.  In 1999, she released her instrumental album and was nominated for an ECMA.  From 1999 to 2003, she was part of the group Celtitude and Vishtèn and toured in France, the United States and Canada.  Mélissa is known for her astonishing rhythms and her energy on stage.

Megan Bergeron is also originally from the Évangéline region in Prince Edward Island but lives in Moncton, New Brunswick.  She has been a back-up musician for numerous years. Previously, she was a member of the group Vishtèn and participated in many tours in France, the United States and Canada.

For his part, Rémi Arsenault is from the Évangéline region and is without a doubt one of the accompanists who is most in demand on the East Coast of Canada.  He has performed on stages all around the world and, during the last few years, is one of Nathalie MacMaster’s accompanists.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) open at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, spectators will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open.
