Christmas at the Acadian Museum

Christmas at the Acadian Museum

A special Christmas activity will take place at the Acadian Museum of Prince Edward Island in Miscouche on Sunday, December 3, starting at 1:30 pm.

Participants will be welcomed with a glass of hot cider in a beautiful Christmas atmosphere.

Historian Georges Arsenault will give a bilingual illustrated presentation on Santa's visits to Acadian communities over the past 150 years. This presentation will show that Santa's costume has not always been the one he wears today, and that he has not always been as generous as he is nowadays.

The Mont-Carmel choir, under the direction of Edmond Gallant, will be on hand to perform several beautiful French Christmas carols.

During the afternoon, children will be invited to make ornaments that were once made at home to decorate the tree. In another workshop, youngsters put their hands to the dough to make "naulets" (little figures made of dough).

People of all ages are invited to bring a "naulet" to the museum for the "naulet" contest. There will be two categories: one for children and one for adults. Participants will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite "naulets". Prizes will be awarded to those whose entries receive the most votes.

The festivity will end with a snack and a sing-along of traditional Christmas carols.

Admission is free to attend this special event for young and old. Donations will be greatly appreciated.

The event is organized by the Sister Antoinette DesRoches Historical Committee in association with the Acadian Museum and the support of La Belle Alliance Ltd. and the PEI Community Cultural Partnership Program.
